Overview:
Marketing Werks is one of Chicago's fastest growing and innovative experiential marketing firms; however, they were nowhere to be found on the web. They needed a website that reflected their innovative techniques and up and coming status, and they wanted to be easily found with Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
Challenge:
To take the existing Marketing Werks brand experience and make it work online. MarketingWerks.com needed to be one page#1 for dozens of experiential marketing and event marketing related key phrases, so the site needed to be perfectly optmized for Google, Yahoo, and MSN. In addition, the Marketing Werks team wanted to create a blog detailing their campaigns, events, and expertise, so we needed to create an internal best practices guide for them and train on the art of blogging effectively and authentically.
Solutions:
Our coders and programmers took the existing Marketing Werks brand aesthetic and transformed it into an interactive online experience with clean, intuitive navigation that makes it ideal for human users as well as the search engines. Next, our SEO specialists worked to ensure that on-site and off-site elements were in place, and now Marketing Werks appears alongside other leading firms on page #1 of the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search results for dozens of key phrases related to their field. We also developed a best practices guideline and trained select Marketing Werks staff on blogging in an authentic, transparent manner and how to interact with their audience online while sharing their expertise and knowlege. In addition, we ensured that the Marketing Werks brand was communicated properly offsite as well, building out their social media pages and training their staff on social outreach.
Results:
Marketing Werks is on page #1 of Google, Yahoo, and MSN for the highly competitive phrases "event marketing" and "experiential marketing", which recieve over 150,000 combined searches a month; moreover, they are also on page #1 for hundreds of long tail key phrases, resulting in over 5000 visitors from the search engines per month. In May 2009, Marketing Werks was named one of Chicago's top 50 companies by Crain's Chicago Business. Was it all up to them being on page #1? Of course not. But the brand awareness that comes from appearing alongside global event and experiential marketing leaders certainly helped their cause, as well as the massive amounts of traffic that the site has received over the 12 month campaign.
