SEO From Kanye West’s Perspective

It is Friday, so once again the SEOGroup blog is featuring a “what would _____do if they were an SEO?” post, and this time the focus is on Kanye West. Like our SEO company, he is a native Chicagoan and since he is performing this weekend at Lollapalooza, we decided to ask ourselves “what would Kanye West if he was an SEO?” this week.

As a tireless self-promoter and champion of various causes, Kanye West would be well-suited to search engine optimization and internet marketing - he’d stop at nothing to get attention and get on page one of the SERPs. Linkbait and outrageous and shocking viral marketing tactics would likely be his specialties, since he does love creating controversy in order to draw attention to himself.

His attention-getting skills would likely serve him well, although he may have a difficult time stepping back and letting clients take the spotlight (although as a successful producer, he might actually be good at contributing to and promoting the work of others - but he’d want credit in the form of backlinks to his site and testimonials and such).

Last but not least, he’d likely engage in black hat tactics from time to time if they suited his purposes - to quote the man himself, “I’m about to break the rules but don’t tell nobody“.
