SEO and Keyword Selection: What Are People Actually Searching For?
When you are deciding on the keywords for your online marketing campaigns, how do you choose which are best? Of course, you want to go with the terms and phrases that are the most relevant to your website and your industry, of course, but you also need to consider the words that people are most likely to actually type into the query box. Any good SEO company will take the search volume into account as well as the relevancy for of that particular keyword.
Search volume is the number of times someone actually types a particular term into the address bar; after all, there is no point in optimizing your site for a term no one actually queries. For instance, say you live in a tiny suburb of a larger city, like Coal City (a suburb of Chicago), and you have a remodeling business, optimizing your site for “Chicago remodeling” would be more likely to bring in the traffic and therefore the potential Chicago area customers. After many, many more people in the Chicago area search for Chicago remodeling when they are in need of those services than people who would search for say, “Coal City remodeling” - and therefore you would be more likely to convert visitors into customers.
