SEO Company Tips: Redundancy and Repetition in SEO Copywriting
When most people learn to write, they learn never (or hardly ever) to repeat themselves - redundancy is always considered a negative and repeating words is discouraged. However, for search engine optimization purposes repetition of keywords is a necessary evil - but fortunately, our SEO company understands how to use repetition to our creative copywriting advantage.
The talented Sonia Simone wrote about “When to be Redundant, Repetitive, and Say the Same Thing Twice” on Copyblogger (an SEOGroup favorite). She listed clarity, certainty, comic effect, and poetry as reasons that you should repeat yourself; we would like to add search engine optimization as one more.
Of course, we are not advocating keyword stuffing (heaven forbid! we would never encourage such a cheap spammy tactic); on the contrary, we mean that a popular keyword has to appear multiple times throughout your website if you want to rank highly for it.
Effectively seeding a keyword throughout your site requires creativity as well as technical know-how. After all, placing it naturally in your content is not always easy, and you definitely don’t want to write copy that reads like “Our Chicago web design company is a web design agency in Chicago that designs websites in Chicago, Illinois” - that’s hardly professional or even credible. Therefore, you need some copywriting skills that allow you to tell your company’s story and communicate your message clearly while still including your keywords - or at the very least, to hire someone who does have those skills.
