On SEO, Internet Marketing, and Breaking Out of the Echo Chamber
Every niche has its echo chamber, and if you are a blogger or any other kind of web publisher, you are probably lying to yourself if you say you’ve never contributed to it. It is difficult to resist writing about the latest breaking news, developments in your field, or the hot new products, after all, and it is only human nature to take an interest in things that others find exciting or useful (why else would social news and voting sites be so popular?)
The search engine optimization and internet marketing fields tend to have a particularly loud and repetitive echo chamber.Posts like “write lists and use bold headers to make your content easily scannable”, “how to write linkbait”, and “how to write attention-grabbing headlines” all tend to reappear on on industry blogs. Even our SEO company is not entirely innocent in this regard, however, we do target these posts towards beginners and people new to the industry and we certainly do not expect them to hit the front page of Digg or even Sphinn - that is not their purpose. However, judging by the sheer number of “Write Killer headlines and Take Over the World!” or “Ten ways to Tyrannize Your Competitors and Rule the SERPs” and similar posts that get submitted to the social sites, plenty of other internet marketers and bloggers do.
Furthermore, writing posts and articles about these topics is so popular (at least in part) because it is really easy. There are plenty of examples to look at and draw inspiration from (or to straight-up plagiarize from for the unethical types) and writing creative, original content is tough to do, especially on a daily basis. However, contributing fresh content that has value and doesn’t just repeat old messages is one of the keys to building authority and authenticity. Of course, providing valuable knowledge is much more difficult than adding to the echo chamber.
Accordingly, this week the SEOGroup will be posting a series of posts on creating value and writing with both authority and authenticity, so check back or subscribe to our SEO and internet marketing blog!

If I may make a suggestion, being one that receives your articles in my feed reader. I find it very easy to skip over the post since nothing is really made to stand out other than the links. Some bolding, along with headings and lists of information, helps me read through my long lists of posts. I’d find your information useful, but I notice myself skipping rather quickly.
