Weekend Links From SEOGroup

As always, here are our SEO company’s favorite search engine optimization and internet marketing related links of the week.

How NOT To Get Links: Major Link-Building Mistakes

Yesterday our SEO company blog covered one way to get bloggers and influencers to link to your website; today we will cover how NOT to get links and the common mistakes made by SEOs and internet marketers.

First of all, any blogger who has achieved even a small degree of popularity has probably received an email or two from someone asking them to link to their website. Sometimes these sites are actually relevant or useful, and the person doing the emailing took to the time to make sure of that, and to actually read the blog they want to be linked on. Yes, this tactic is the link-building equivalent of cold-calling, however, with a little research it can still be moderately successful.

Another Common SEO Question: Does More Traffic Always = More Conversions?

Last week our SEO company started to explain some of the more basic aspects of search engine optimization and internet marketing, because like many others in our field, we often find ourselves working with clients are not particularly familiar with the SEO industry. It is Friday, so once again the SEOGroup blog is featuring a “what would _____do if they were an SEO?” post, and this time the focus is on Kanye West. Like our SEO company, he is a native Chicagoan and since he is performing this weekend at Lollapalooza, we decided to ask ourselves “what would Kanye West if he was an SEO?” this week.

Common Questions About SEO And Internet Marketing

Our SEO company has a variety of clients, and their understanding of SEO and internet marketing ranges from pretty impressive (especially for a non-SEO professional) to well, not so impressive (hey, that is what they pay us for).  Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of the common questions clients ask about the search engine optimization process, along with some relatively-jargon free answers.

On SEO, Internet Marketing, and Breaking Out of the Echo Chamber

Every niche has its echo chamber, and if you are a blogger or any other kind of web publisher, you are probably lying to yourself if you say you’ve never contributed to it. It is difficult to resist writing about the latest breaking news, developments in your field, or the hot new products, after all, and it is only human nature to take an interest in things that others find exciting or useful (why else would social news and voting sites be so popular?)

The search engine optimization and internet marketing fields tend to have a particularly loud and repetitive echo chamber.

Everyone wants to get their content on the front page of Digg, Reddit, and other social news/voting websites; after all, those websites can drive huge amounts of traffic, lead to the creation of dozens (if not more) back links, and of course, help your website get to page one.
