Air SEO! Search Engine Optimization Through the Eyes of Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan is one of Chicago’s local heroes, so this Friday our Chicago SEO company is taking a look at search engine opimization and online marketing though His Airness’s eyes. First of all, he would definitely be a white hat SEO; furthermore, he’d probably always be open to new techniques, ideas, and other creative marketing methods.
If Michael Jordan was an SEO, he’d be an exceptionally positive, hardworking one. In fact, he’d probably be the best choice among the individuals we’ve profiled in this creative SEO success series thus far, always looking for new ways to dominate the SERPs for even the most competitive keywords. As he said himself”If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.“
He would also realize that he couldn’t get his site on page one alone (the SEO equivalent of winning) - it takes networking with others in your niche, maybe partnering with a web design company or copywriter to develop new sites, and of course, mining a competitor’s backlinks (the SEO version of find and exploiting the other team’s weaknesses). In other words, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” He also wouldn’t forget the little guys (or other bloggers and social media participants) who helped him get to the top, as he understands that “To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate.”
His Airness would also understand the importance of hard work - “I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don’t do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.” After all, ranking for competitive keywords takes lots of time and effort, and there is no substitute for hard work.
Most importantly, Michael Jordan (or “Air SEO!”) would know that even the most talented SEO isn’t perfect, and that with failure comes the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” In the search engine optimization world, that translates to the fact that even the most dire website can be rescued from the depths of obscurity and get on page one.
